The 45 Watt MagSafe 2 Power Adapter has a magnetic DC plug. If it's put under too much pressure, such as if someone trips over it, the cord will loosen - leaving your MacBook Air in place. The plug also helps prevent the cord from wearing or fraying over time. In addition, the magnetic DC connection pulls the plug to the right place, so that a good connection is quickly established.

Once the plug is properly seated, the light on the head of the DC plug will illuminate; an orange light indicates that the notebook is charging and a green light indicates that the notebook is fully charged. The adapter comes with a power cord, so the outlet doesn't have to be too close. The AC plug (also included) is convenient for on the go.
